Reckless drivers were caught on camera driving through a Milwaukee high school's lawn while students were present.
According to WISN, Milwaukee police said on Tuesday, August 17, a person drove a vehicle through Milwaukee Marshall High School's lawn, almost hitting students.
The entire event was caught on camera. In the video, you can see a blue car driving over the grass while students run from the car's path. You can also hear the car screeching as it leaves the sidewalk area and goes back onto the street.
Sophomore DaChanda McDaniel saw the incident and told WISN, "It's just stupid because what if you actually hurt somebody."
Authorities say the vehicle was stolen, but it had not been reported when the incident occurred.
Another incident took place on Wednesday, August 18, where three cars repeated Tuesday's actions by driving recklessly on the school's grass around students.
WISN reported Milwaukee Public Schools released a statement saying:
"Milwaukee Public Schools is aware of the disturbing videos showing cars being driven unlawfully on school property. The district is working with school safety and the Milwaukee Police Department on an increased presence to help prevent more of these incidents from happening outside school buildings. School leaders have notified families and will continue to encourage students to remain vigilant while moving swiftly to and from school."
Luckily, no students were hurt during both reckless driving instances. The vehicle in Tuesday's incident has been recovered, but police say they do not know who the driver was.
