As companies prepare for workers to return to the office, several are requiring their employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19. While the policies have sparked controversy, a majority of remote workers support the measures.
According to a poll conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs, 59% of remote workers approve of vaccine mandates, while 25% oppose the requirement. For people who are working in person, 47% support the mandates, and 25% said they are against them.
While in-person workers were less likely to support a vaccine mandate, 71% said they were fully vaccinated.
When it comes to mask mandates, 59% of remote workers and 50% of in-person workers support wearing masks at their workplaces.
Since the U.S. Food and Drug Administration fully approved Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine, a growing number of companies have informed some or all of their employees that they need to get vaccinated. Those companies include Goldman Sachs, CVS, Chevron, Hess, Walt Disney Co., and Deutsche Bank AG. In addition, the Pentagon informed all active-duty troops that they must get vaccinated.
As of August 25, over 171 million people in the United States have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and over 202 million have received at least one dose.
