Shoppers at a Nashville mall will now be met with a chaperone rule for minors.

Opry Mills Mall is implementing a new Youth Supervision Policy that will require guests under the age of 18 to be accompanied by a parent or adult at certain times. The new policy, which begins September 10, was created as and "enhancement to our existing safety plan and to deter activity that is disruptive to our community," according to News Channel 5.

The Youth Supervision Policy states that on Fridays and Saturdays from 3 p.m. until close, all visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied at all times by a parent or adult ages 21 and up. One adult can chaperone up to four juveniles, but if a juvenile does not have a chaperone, they must leave the property by 3 p.m.

"We are committed to providing a pleasant and family friendly shopping environment for all our guests," mall officials said in a statement.

Mall officials may require proof of age during the new policy hours, including state-issued driver's license or ID card, military ID, a school ID or a passport. If proper identification is not provided, those visitors will be asked to leave the property.

The new policy also applies to mall employees under the age of 18. While they are still allowed to work during the new Youth Supervision Policy hours, they much adhere to the rules if their shift ends during that time.
