A burglary suspect broke into the wrong house in El Paso, Texas.
Carlos Esteban Villaescusa allegedly used a metal rod to break a window at a home in the 2600 block of Fillmore Avenue around 4 p.m. on Wednesday (August 25).
What Villaescusa didn't know was that the homeowner was taking a nap at the time and woke up to the sound of breaking glass, KTSM reported.
The homeowner had a machete with him as he confronted the 22-year-old and told him to leave. When Villaescusa refused, the two men fought and the homeowner slashed the suspect multiple times in the face with the machete.
Villaescusa ran off when police officers arrived at the home, but cops quickly caught him in a neighbor's backyard.
Villaescusa was taken to a nearby hospital for his facial wounds and will be taken to the El Paso County Jail once released.
A police investigation also uncovered that the suspect broke into a second house on the block. He now faces charges for burglary of a habitation, evading arrest or detention, criminal mischief, and criminal trespass.
