The New England Patriots received some good news regarding a position group in desperate need of depth entering the 2021 NFL season.
Cornerback Jonathan Jones is reported to have only experienced a minor injury described as "nothing significant," according to Pro Football Focus' Doug Kyed.
Jones experienced the injury during New England's joint practice with the New York Giants on Thursday (August 26).
The Patriots were already thin at the cornerback position, which led to New England acquiring rookie Shaun Wade from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and a fifth-round pick in the 2023 draft, a source told ESPN's Jamison Hensley on Thursday.
The seventh-round pick was initially acquired by New England from the Houston Texans in exchange for veteran tight end Ryan Izzo.
Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones only suffered a minor injury Thursday in a joint practice with the Giants, per source.

"Nothing significant."
Great news for the Patriots, who are thin at the position even after trading for Ravens draft pick Shaun Wade.
Wade was selected in the fifth-round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but was set to be released by the Ravens as the team cuts its roster down to 53 players ahead of the upcoming season.
The former Ohio State standout was passed on the Ravens' depth chart by third-year cornerback Chris Westry.
The Patriots are currently without Pro Bowler Stephon Gilmore remains on the physically unable to perform list due to a quad injury and has asked for his contract situation to be addressed.
New England currently has J.C. Jackson and Jalen Mills listed as its starting cornerbacks, with Jones at the slot position and second-year player Joejuan Williams -- who has never appeared in an NFL game -- listed next on the depth chart.
