The adventure continues!

On Monday (August 30), a new report from The Hollywood Reporter revealed a sequel to Disney's Jungle Cruise is already in the works. The family-friendly action flick, which starred Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, was released in theaters and on DisneyPlus earlier this summer.

Both Johnson and Blunt will reprise their roles as skipper Frank Wolff and Dr. Lily Houghton, respectively, for the sequel. Producers Scott Sheldon, John Davis, John Fox, Beau Flynn, Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will all return for the second film, as well.

"This is going to be FUN!" Johnson said of signing on for the sequel on Twitter. "Oh, and cheers to Jungle Cruise just crossing $100M at the domestic box office."

In case you haven't been able to check out Jungle Cruise yet, here's the official synopsis of the movie:

Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s Jungle Cruise is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain Frank Wolff and Emily Blunt as determined explorer, Dr. Lily Hughton, on a research mission.
The adventure begins when Houghton enlists the aid of wisecracking skipper Wolff to take her down the Amazon in his ramshackle boat. Together, they search for an ancient tree that holds the power to heal—a discovery that will change the future of medicine.

While Blunt hasn't publicly commented on the news, she previously revealed why Jungle Cruise is close to her heart. "This interestingly has been the only trailer that [my daughters] have watched multiple times," Blunt said after the trailer first debuted. "They are usually disinterested in seeing me on screen, but they're really into Jungle Cruise. They love the jaguar, they love DJ, they love the dynamic, they love the whole world."

"It's been the first thing they're like, 'Play it again, play it again,' " she added. "It makes me so happy."
