One person is now in jail after problems with a car led to a drug bust in Iron County, reported KSL.
So what were those problems?
The car had a handwritten license plate, illegally dark tinted windows, and was following too closely behind a semi truck.
A Utah Highway Patrol officer said that he spotted the car with the handwritten plate heading north on I-15.
Once the car was pulled over, the trooper noticed signs of drug use by the driver. Trooper Scott Mackelprang said, "I noted that his eyes were glassy, bloodshot and red. He had facial tremors and was sweating."
After searching the vehicle, the trooper found two small packages of a white substance that was believed to be methamphetamine. There were more bundles of drugs that were uncovered. They all added up to more than seven pounds. In addition, the driver's California license was suspended or revoked, and the car did not have legal registration.
41-year-old Francisco Velasquez was arrested and the car was impounded. Velasquez later admitted to using meth as well as receiving $2,000 to transport the drugs.
