A few good Samaritans rescued a couple from a burning car in East County San Diego on Monday, September 6, and it was caught on video.

According to ABC10, the incident happened around 4:30 P.M. on Monday on westbound lanes of Interstate 8 in Lakeside just before the Lake Jennings Park Road exit.

The good Samaritans who helped the couple stuck inside the burning car are being called heroes on social media.

Marie Macrorie, a bystander, was the one who recorded the video of the heroic rescue.

According to Macrorie, the man and woman inside the car are in their 90s and have been married for 64 years.

"We got to see these people running across the freeway and absolutely risking their lives to get those people out," said Macrorie.

The people who came to the couple's rescue told her they were returning from a Bible study group.

According to Lakeside Fire Protection District officials, crews took the couple to UC San Diego Medical Center to treat their burns. One of the bystanders was also treated for burn injuries.
