Pizza is America's go-to comfort food. We eat it at birthday parties, celebrations, and even family movie nights. The country loves the cheesy goodness so much that there are tons of restaurants dedicated to the dish.

So it's not surprising that Americans turned to pizza during the pandemic. While restaurants across the country closed their dining rooms, the nation's biggest pizza chains were making dough thanks to delivery and take out orders.

Recently, foodie website Eat This, Not That took a look at thriving pizza places to find out which chains are the most popular in each state based on foot traffic.

According to their data, Little Caesars is the most popular pizza chain in Texas.

Their $5 pepperoni pizzas have a ton of fans because Little Caesars took the top spot in 23 other states - Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont.

Chains that were found to be popular in the other half of the country were Papa John's, Domino's, Godfather's Pizza, Marco's Pizza, Pizza Hut, and Papa Murphy's.
