Ed Sheeran Pays Homage To Elton John In New 'Shivers' Music Video

Ed Sheeran's fifth album, =, is due to be released on October 29, and the singer has now shared its third single. "Shivers" embodies much of Sheeran's well-known sound as the video follows him becoming enraptured with a woman named Sophie, played by AnnaSophia Robb. The two meet in a diner, with Sheeran feeling as though he was (literally) hit by a train at first sight.

The video follows Sheeran awkwardly hanging out with Robb, the couple gaining more confidence as they embody Elton John. As the video zooms in on Sheran's twinkling eye, he can be found dancing in a glittering room as feathers tower behind his head and bedazzled sunglasses frame his face. The trippy and fun-loving music video embodies Sheeran's heartwarming track as he and Robb experience all the wonder of new love.

Sheeran teased the song and video, as well as his new Elton John-inspired style, earlier this week. The British singer-songwriter's last single, "Bad Habits," has found continued success and has been No. 1 in charts since its release. Sheeran joked online that he felt there was a lot of pressure for his next single.

"It was written over the course of 3 days which is very different for me, but I felt it was too special to get wrong," Sheeran said of "Shivers" in an Instagram post. "It was originally meant to be the first single but I didn't see a world where 'Bad Habits' existed if it didn't come out in the summer. 'Shivers' always felt more autumnal."

Sheeran's manager, Stuart Camp, spoke with Variety in July and hinted that Sheeran's = follow-up may be arriving sooner rather than later. In recording this last album, Sheeran managed to create more songs than he needed, with the tracks being reserved for future projects. Camp stated that fans can expect new records to be released as Sheeran tours,
