While humans were staying off the roads because of Tropical Storm Nicholas, an alligator thought it was a good time to take a stroll.

A 10-foot-long alligator was reportedly found on Interstate 10 near Major Drive in Beaumont, Texas, on Tuesday at 4 a.m.

The people at the reptile sanctuary Gator Country were called in by authorities to get the critter off the road. The gator didn't take to kindly to having its early morning walk interrupted because it ripped the door off the shelter it was kept in at Gator Country.

This is the alligator the we had to move from I-10 and major dr. At 4am last night in the storm. He tore the damn door off.

The park assured locals that none of its gators would get free during the storm.

“Guess what we got at Gator Country? That’s right. We got something they ain’t getting out of,” owner Gary Saurage said in a Monday Facebook video showing off the newly installed fence around the park.

The park was hit hard by flooding in May. While no animals broke out of Gator Country, its largest resident (a 13-foot gator named Big Tex) had to be put in a trailer and driven to higher ground as a precaution.

Thanks to the new fence, Big Tex gets to stay put.

“You don’t have to worry about it being in your garage in the morning,” Saurage said.
