Less than a year after recreational weed was legalized in Arizona, a new kind of festival is coming. 12 News reported that organizers of Arizona’s first marijuana festival is expecting thousands of people to show up to Camp Verde for Errl Camp. This is dubbed as a “Medicated Camping Festival.”
The new kind of festivals being promoted as a “weekend of cannabis, camping, music, and friends.”
This isn't the only camp like this, however. There are actually many festivals scheduled over the next few months that are mixing the legalization of recreational marijuana along with a massive celebration.
Jason Johnson, helping to put on Cannival, said, “It’s coming into the main stream, and we want everybody to be a part of it.” Cannival is mixing cannabis with the annual tradition of Carnival.
Johnson said, “We have stilt walkers and fire breathers and somebody answers and a Luchador ring.”
The event is currently set for February 26th with hopes of more than 10,000 people in attendance.
So is this kind of event legal?
Yes. Though, the event organizers definitely had some hurdles to jump over. Johnson said, “We have strict rules and guidelines, and we are looking to do it right the first time so we can do many more of them.”
