Oklahoma City residents may recognize a familiar face on Season 41 of Survivor.

Jairus “JD” Robinson is one of the 18 castaways competing for $1 million while on Mamanuca Islands in Fiji. Robinson, 20, was born in Guam, but he calls Oklahoma City home. He's currently a college student and a graduate of Carl Albert High School, where he ran track.

Robinson calls himself a Survivor super fan.

“I’ve been watching Survivor since I was old enough to watch TV. I feel like my faith and my family are the foundation of who I am, but Survivor built me up," he told NewsOn6.

This season promises intense mental and physical challenges for its castaways, and Robinson says he's ready to play the game.

“I plan on backstabbing and wheeling and double dealing. I plan on just cutting throats,” he said. “But you have to find that group of people that you can bond with enough so that they’ll carry you a long way in this game.”

Robinson told Parade magazine that when the game gets tough, he'll think back to the last hug he gave his parents and eight siblings before boarding a plane for the show.

"Whenever I feel like I need to dig deep and I have nothing left, I will absolutely think about my family, because that’s a big reason why I’m playing," he said.

The newest season of Survivor premieres with a two-hour special on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on CBS.
