'A Season Of Shivers' Farmers Almanac Predicts Michigan's Winter Weather

The weather is always so unpredictable, especially during the winter, but one fact we do know is how cold Michigan's winters can be.

We can expect this winter to be a "season of shivers" according to the 2021–2022 winter weather forecast from The Old Farmer's Almanac.

The warning for the upcoming chilling winter says we can expect "positively bone-chilling, below-average temperatures across most of the United States." Janice Stillman, editor of The Old Farmer's Almanac, says, "This coming winter could well be one of the longest and coldest that we've seen in years."

A map created by The Old Farmer's Almanac shows that Michigan will fall under the category of cold and wet this winter.

The Old Farmer's Almanac says a few critical factors come into play when predicting the weather:

"The important factors which shape the weather include a weak La Niña, a continued warm phase in the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO), a neutral to positive phase in the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) in the early stages of its warm cycle. In addition, we are in the early stages of Solar Cycle 25, which is expected to bring very low solar activity—historically associated with cooler temperatures, on average, across Earth."
