While I was being filmed for @OnTheRecordDoc I introduced Andrea Martin to @EllaWylde, the young artist signed to my new label. I was so excited to be making music with Andrea again. I can’t believe she’s gone. She was an absolute genius. 💔🕊#RIPAndreaMartin pic.twitter.com/xQJDmSepXy

Martin's talent has been showcased throughout the music industry over the last 25 years. In 1998, she released her debut album, The Best Of Me, through Arista Records. Her debut album spawned Billboard Hot 100 singles like "Let Me Return The Favor" and "Share My Love." Not to mention, she also appeared on the classic record "Girls Night Out" with Faith Evans, Deborah Cox and several other legends.
Beyond her solo work, Martin has also been credited as a songwriter on several tracks as well. She has worked alongside En Vogue, Monica, Melanie Fiona, Angie Stone and SWV. Several of her former collaborators took to social media to share their fondest memories of the late singer-songwriter.
“Last November, through ASCAP Urban, I got the opportunity to be able to be mentored by the incredible Andrea Martin along with my teammates," singer-songwriter Langston Bleu wrote.
"It was two of the most emotionally grueling weeks of my life. Since then, you’ve remained a friend and always kept it realer than real. I remember I told you a song didn’t need a bridge and your response was, ‘How many hit songs have you written?’ then you hung up on me. RIP Andrea.”
