If you saw a mysterious light shooting through the sky above North Carolina Friday night (September 24), you're not alone.

Video of the bright object was captured by a security camera at a home in Rowland Pond, outside of Raleigh. According to NASA, the fireball in the sky fell over the North Carolina coast around 7:40 p.m. and was one of at least five seen around the country that same night, per CBS News.

The American Meteor Society shared footage of the fireball, another name for a very bright meteor, falling through the sky, traveling 26 miles through the atmosphere at around 32,000 miles per hour before disintegrating 28 miles above Morehead City. The organization said it received 148 reports along the coast of fireball activity, with 80 reports coming from North Carolina alone.

Check out the video below, shared by the American Meteor Society.

This isn't the first time mysterious lights have flown through the skies above the Tar Heel State. In March, strange, parabola-shaped lights were seen high above North Carolina and were also captured on video. Another occurrence early this year saw reports of a UFO flying above Charlotte, with the mysterious string of lights sparking debates among the community as to what the sighting could possibly be.
