Kodak Black has entered himself into a drug treatment program after failing a drug test while on supervised released from prison.
According to TMZ, the Florida rapper violated the terms of his supervised prison release in his federal gun case when his drug test came back positive, which led to a court hearing this week. Following the failed results, a judge ordered Kodak to complete 90 days in a residential program.
Court documents reveal that the "Feelin Peachy" rapper has already entered a treatment facility. The news comes just weeks after Kodak proposed that fans partake in the Sober Challenge as oppose to the viral Milk Crate Challenge. Black's lawyer, Bradford Cohen, took to Instagram to share his clients message, writing:
"Kodak speaks to a Broward Courtroom of individuals dealing with addiction problems. He speaks about his own battles and issues and the things he feels are important to a sober life. I believe this is all part of the process of healing. There are missteps along the way, but people should always realize that the first step is wanting to get better. Sorry about the sound but he says that addiction affects white black poor and rich and he realizes that it has affected his relationships and business in the past and he knows that a sober life is one that is better and healthier."
The news of Kodak's treatment also comes on the heels of the rapper donating $20,000 to the child of the 27-year-old Fort Lauderdale officer who died from complications related to COVID-19 back in August. The rapper has also been candid about the mental anguish he's suffered since losing his friend, WizDaWizard, telling reporters:
“I just lost a friend. A very close friend for, like – we’ve been friends for like over 10 years. I just lost him yesterday and he has a beautiful baby girl, too. It’s crazy dealin’ with losin’ loved ones and stuff like that. It’s hard. I’ve been dealing with losses my whole life.”
Donald Trump freed Kodak Black from his 46-month prison stint back in January, as part of the former President's many pardons toward the end of his time in office. The rapper's camp has yet to speak out regarding his treatment.
