Billie Eilish will make history next year when she becomes the youngest ever solo act to headline Glastonbury. Eilish confirmed the news on her Instagram story, which the festival's organizer Emily Eavis tweeted out to followers.
"We couldn’t be happier to announce that the wondrous @billieeilish is headlining the Pyramid on the Friday at next year's Glastonbury Festival, becoming the youngest solo headliner in our history," she captioned the post. "This feels like the perfect way for us to return and I cannot wait!"
The iconic UK festival has been on a two-year hiatus due to COVID. While Eilish has been the only confirmed 2022 headliner so far, Paul McCartney, Diana Ross, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift were all scheduled to top the bill in 2020, and Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis hinted that the "big names" from the canceled lineup would be back next year.
Glastonbury is slated to return June 22-26, 2022.

Eilish headlined the Austin City Limits festival in Texas over the weekend, where she admitted to the crowd that she almost canceled her set to "punish" the state for passing its controversial abortion law.
“When they made that sh*t a law, I almost didn't want to do the show because I wanted to punish this f*cking place for allowing that to happen here,” she declared. “But then I remembered that it’s you guys that are the f*cking victims and you deserve everything in the world. We need to tell them to shut the f*ck up.”
She then put her middle finger in the air and proclaimed “My body, my f*cking choice!”
Eilish's Glastonbury set will follow the North American leg of her Happier Than Ever tour. See those dates here.
