Colin Kaepernick Is Still Training For NFL Comeback

Colin Kaepernick is still hoping to get a chance to play football professionally again.

The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback graced the digital November issue of Ebony magazine and was interviewed by Sunny Hostin. In the interview, Kaepernick shared his goals ––including leading a team to the Super Bowl –– and what he's doing to reach them.

"I am still up at 5 a.m. training five, six days a week," Kaepernick said, adding that he's "making sure I'm prepared to take a team to the Super Bowl again."

Kaepernick, 33, has not played in the league since the 2016 season after he began kneeling during the National Anthem to protest police brutality and racial injustice.

The author and activist sued the NFL and the parties eventually settled out of court, though the league didn't publicly admit to blackballing him. Still, Kaepernick believes the public protest and blowback is the reason teams won't bring him on. He's hoping his public training will bring attention to the situation.

"You're gonna have to continue to deny me and do so in a public way," Kaepernick told the magazine. "And you're gonna expose yourself by that, but it won't be because I'm not ready or not prepared."

While he's been waiting for a potential chance to get back to football, Kaepernick has kept busy, publishing children's books, running youth camps, and even acting.

The athlete revealed he's been working with acting coaches and is looking to snag more on-screen roles in the future. Acting, Kaepernick says, "really feels natural to me," noting that "I just didn't have to dodge any 300-pound lineman while doing it."
