After the historic dumping of rain on the Bay Area in October, another atmospheric river is in the forecast for the region.

According to SFGate, this second storm will be weaker and is set to sweep the North Bay on Thursday night (November 4) into Friday, November 5.

The weekend will give Bay Area residents a break from the wet conditions but it won't last long. The atmospheric river is forecasted to enter the region and bring soaking rain starting on Monday, November 8.

While some people may find rainy weather inconvenient, California desperately needs the rain. After facing dire drought conditions for two consecutive winters, the rainy season finally started on October 1, 2021.

"We'll take it," Drew Peterson, a meteorologist with the weather service's Bay Area office told SFGate. "California is a feast or famine state. We do tend to oscillate back and forth. We're often way below or way over, and it's hard to get that average precipitation."

According to SFGate, it's already showing promise to bring above-average rainfall for the month.

The National Weather Service released totals for the area and Downtown San Francisco recorded 7.04 inches of rain last month, which is a whopping 750% above average.

The turnaround in rainfall averages is thanks to the mega-storm on October 24 and a couple of weaker storm systems.
