A massive vegan grocery store with a cafe has opened in San Diego.

According to VegNews, the 4,500-square-foot XMarket is located in the Hillcrest neighborhood and is the U.S. flagship location for PlantX, a digital shop that aims to be the vegan version of Amazon.

The new retailer sells vegan items from popular Canadian and U.S. brands and offers same-day delivery through UberEats and Postmates.

Beyond food, the market also carries items like cosmetics, wellness products, and indoor plants.

The cafe inside also doubles as a sandwich shop offering cappuccinos, oat milk lattes, steeped teas, and diverse plant-based lunches curated by vegan chef and restaurateur Matthew Kenney.

The menu offers things like waffle-based avocado toast, Caprese with Miyoko's Creamy mozzarella, tomatoes, arugula, and pesto on a focaccia bum, reports VegNews.

The cafe also serves pastries from local bakeries Pan el Barro, The Gluten Free Bakery Co., and Yvonne's Vegan Kitchen.

According to VegNews, the San Diego XMarket joins just two other brick-and-mortar locations, one in Squamish, BC, and another in Venice, CA.

The PlantX has a goal to be in every major city across Canada by the end of the year and the company also expects to sell more than 100 franchise locations.

Online ordering at the XMarket San Diego location will be available soon.
