According to a new report, a California city is the absolute best place for book lovers. To celebrate National Family Literacy Month, Lawn Love ranked the best cities for book lovers in 2022.

In order to determine the best places for book worms, the website "compared the 200 biggest U.S. cities based on access to public libraries, bookstores, Little Free Libraries, book clubs, and events."

They also looked for cities that engage in the online community called BookCrossing, in which readers leave their books "in the wild" for a stranger to find.

According to their findings, 2022's best city for book lovers is Pasadena.

Other California cities were featured further down the list:

  • Garden Grove (No. 8)
  • Oakland (No. 9)
  • Torrance (No. 15)
  • San Francisco (No. 19)
  • Fullerton (No. 20)
  • Orange (No. 24)
  • San Diego (No. 25)
  • Sacramento (No. 27)

Other interesting findings from the study include Garden Grove, Pasadena, Torrance, and Fullerton having more bookstores than other cities. Los Angeles and San Francisco have the most book clubs in the nation.

There are the top 10 cities for book lovers, according to Lawn Love:

  1. Pasadena, CA
  2. Seattle, WA
  3. Jersey City, NJ
  4. Eugene, OR
  5. New York, NY
