The Worst Times For San Diego Drivers To Get On The Road For Christmas

While the state of the pandemic may be more confusing than it was last December, most Americans will be back traveling this holiday season.

According to AAA, 109 million people will travel at least 50 miles or more between Thursday, December 23, and New Year's Day. That's a 34% increase from last year.

To make Christmas travel as painless as possible, the auto club has released a list of the worst and best times to hit the road if you're leaving San Diego on a tight schedule.

Thursday, December 23:

  • Worst Travel Time
    • 12:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
  • Best Travel Time
    • After 7:00 P.M.

Friday, December 24:

  • Worst Travel Time
    • 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
  • Best Travel Time
    • Before 1:00 P.M.

Saturday, December 25, Christmas Day:

  • Minimal traffic all-day, best day to travel if you're making a short trip

Sunday, December 26:

  • Worst Travel Time
    • 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
  • Best Travel Time
    • Before noon

Monday, December 27:

  • Worst Travel Time
    • 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
  • Best Travel Time
    • Before 1:00 P.M.
