Driver Caught Going 138 MPH On Sacramento Freeway

A driver was caught going over 70 miles above the speed limit on a major Sacramento freeway.

According to ABC10, a North Sacramento California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer witnessed a driver traveling at 138 miles per hour on I-80 near I-5 early Saturday morning (January 29).

The posted speed limit in the area was 65 mph, according to ABC10. The CHP added that the driver was not in possession of insurance and was also driving with a suspended license.

"138 MPH! It was in the wee hours of Saturday morning when Officer Karakas observed this driver at 138 miles per hour on I-80 near I-5," reads a post from the CHP - North Sacramento Facebook page. "The driver was not in possession of insurance and his driver license was suspended. This irresponsible and selfish driver put everyone on the highway in danger by traveling this fast."

No further details about the incident were provided by CHP.
