A driver was caught on video breaking into Petco Park's field and taking a joyride in his SUV on Friday morning, February 18. According to FOX5, the driver tore up the surface of the field after doing several donuts.

Police said the driver was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism. The driver's name was not released. Staff at the park are currently preparing for baseball season and watched in shock as the SUV emerged from a ballpark tunnel and onto the field.

“Definitely is the most bizarre thing I’ve seen on the field,” attorney Ryan Carlson told FOX5. He watched the incident unfold from his office overlooking Petco Park.

At first, Carlson believed the driver was an employee taking a joyride but when the driver started tearing through the outfield area and doing doughnuts, he took out his phone to get a video.

“I just kind of recorded it as a joke saying ‘You know, this guy must be really pissed about the new playoff format that the MLB is implementing or, you know, the lockout itself,'” said Carlson.

As the driver's joyride came to an end, the grounds crew blocked the exit and surrounded the vehicle.

“Once the car came to a stop and people started to surround it, that’s when I realized I might have just witnessed a crime," said Carlson. "It really wasn’t that apparent at first — there was no real sense of, you know, urgency from anybody. Everybody was pretty calm."
