Nick Cannon has become a television phenom after all the success he's had hosting shows like Wild'n Out and FOX's The Masked Singer. The rapper and actor was also making waves on daytime TV with his self-named talk show. However, his time as a talk show host is coming to an end.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cannon's syndicated daytime talk show will cease operations on Thursday, March 9. The crew was informed of the cancellation ahead of their previously scheduled five-week hiatus. Although production of the show will end after today, Nick Cannon will finish the season with pre-recorded episodes. Prior to the announcement, The Breakfast Club's Angela Yee stopped by the Nick Cannon show to talk about the show's demise.

"This is show business, right?" Nick Cannon told Yee. "And we know the biggest word in that is 'business.' This is a business and as a business man I know that as much fun as we have on the show business is the thing that makes this whole thing tick and operate. Honestly, I show up each and everyday bright and early to give you a show but I'm also a business man and you understand when there's certain platforms, this has been a dream come true for me to be able to do this for you each and everyday but my business mind --- I want to expand and elevate in a way."

The Nick Cannon show officially launched in the Fall of 2021. Cannon was originally set to debut his talk show in Fall 2020 but his producer-distributor, Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury, decided to delay the premiere due to controversial, anti-Semitic comments Cannon had made on his podcast Cannon's Class earlier that summer. Although FOX stuck by Cannon throughout the controversy, ViacomCBS decided to severe all ties with Cannon, even after he formally apologized. Nonetheless, at the end of the day, the show didn't draw in the viewership that the network had hoped for.

“It’s never easy to cancel a production with clear potential but, after a great deal of deliberation and examining various options, we have made the difficult business decision to end production on Nick Cannon,” Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, co-presidents of producer-distributor Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury told THR. “We plan to offer viewers original episodes of the daytime talk show through the remainder of this season. Our thanks go to the very talented Nick Cannon and our wonderful production team, and we wish Nick continued success with his many hit ventures.”

The Nick Cannon show's cancellation follows the end of another major talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, which was recently put out to pasture due to Williams' health issues.
