California Is The No. 1 Place For UFO Sightings In America

Americans sure love a UFO story. The first documented image of an "Unidentified Flying Object" was captured in 1870 on the summit of Mount Washington in New Hampshire. After that, more sightings were reported in Mount Rainier in 1947 and the infamous Roswell incident in New Mexico. Ever since then, Americans have become obsessed with the possibility of extraterrestrial life coming to Earth.

Stacker compiled a list of the states with the most UFO sightings and they have some good news for UFO enthusiasts who are living in California! According to their study, California is the No. 1 state for sightings with a whopping 10,333 UFO sightings. Here's what Stacker said about their discovery:

"It's no surprise that the state with the most UFO sightings is also home to the annual Contact in the Desert, the world's “largest UFO conference.” The event generally features speakers, panel discussions, lots of opportunities for stargazing, and a steady stream of believers ready to share their experiences—many of which have been captured on camera."
