Amanda Shires debuted a new song from her upcoming album, recruiting Maren Morris for the soulful ballad. “Empty Cups” appears on Shires’ album, Take It Like A Man, which is set to release at the end of this month. She and Morris expertly blend their voices as they duet:

“Now my hands are two empty cups / Maybe I was asking for a little too much / To keep the newness from wearing off / For every start there’s gonna be a stop”

Shires — who formed country music group The Highwomen in 2019 with Morris, Brandi Carlile and Natalie Hemby — will release “a record that is so unlike anything she has ever recorded that you would be tempted to think it’s her debut album instead of her seventh,” the description of the project reads. The award-winning singer-songwriter and violinist created “a fearless confessional, showing the world what turning 40 looks like in 10 emotionally raw tracks.”
