All Elite Wrestling star Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been cast in the upcoming film, The Iron Claw, chronicling the legendary Von Erich wrestling family, Deadline.com reported on Tuesday (November 8).
Friedman, 26, joins a cast that already includes Jeremy Allen White, Zac Efron, Harris Dickinson, Holt McCallan, Maura Tierney and Lily James.
The Long Island native is one of the top rising stars in professional wrestling and is currently set to face All Elite Wrestling World Champion Jon Moxley for the title at the upcoming Full Gear pay-per-view event.
Friedman, who has publicly acknowledged his upcoming free agency in 2024 and interest from both AEW and WWE, recently revealed that he planned to take "a lot of meetings" in Los Angeles upon returning from his AEW hiatus and that acting would also be an option for him.
"I'm actually going to be heading out to LA literally after Dynamite for a lot of meetings," Friedman told Barstool Sports' KFC Radio last month. "There's definitely a lot of people interested in MJF."
"I see myself acting. I see myself kind of doing what [John Cena], Batista, and [The] Rock did," Friedman added. "There's definitely a lot of feelers out there."
No additional details regarding Friedman's role were made available at the time of Deadline's report on Tuesday.
The Iron Claw is based on the life of Kevin Von Erich (played by Efron) the surviving member of the legendary Von Erich family, which also included brothers David (played by Dickinson), Kerry (played by White) and Mike (played by Stanley Simons), all of whom died tragically during their professional wrestling careers.
