Bastille took fans behind the scenes of the music video for “Hope For The Future,” an anthem of resilience in the midst of hardships.

Dan Smith wrote and performed the song in the documentary From Devil’s Breath, which “tells the unlikely story of two remarkable narratives that come crashing together; the extraordinary, inspiring community of survivors of the deadly 2017 wildfires in Portugal, fighting to ensure what they’ve lived through can never happen again; and a revolutionary, world-changing scientific discovery which could help protect us all from the climate emergency,” reads the film’s description.

Smith, inspired by the storyline, wrote the song during the lockdown prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the website for From Devil’s Breath. Bastille fans might also recognize the song from the track list of the Give Me The Future + Dreams Of The Past album earlier this year. The film’s team created the “Hope For The Future” music video, which was also directed by the same director, Orlando von Einsiedel.

The behind-the-scenes look of the making of the “Hope For The Future” music video gives viewers a glimpse into Smith’s home, showing how the team brought life to a track that is simultaneously “very sad” and also “has an element of hope to it,” he said. Watch the behind-the-scenes video here:
