A house located in Aurora was listed for rent on Zillow, and the owner had no idea until people came to her house with paperwork stating that they had already paid money to rent out the space. According to ABC7, a scammer put Aurora homeowner Donna's property up on Zillow, but Donna had no intention of renting or selling anytime soon. She drew upon her sheer surprise when a hopeful renter showed up at her front door.

"And he told me that he was here to see the house, that he wanted to see it because it was for rent, and I said 'This house is not for rent,'" she told ABC7, "And he said, 'Yes it is, I've got the paperwork.'" ABC7 mentioned that the paper that the man handed to Donna had a forged signature on it.

"I was afraid," she said. "I said, 'Where did you see the house?' He said, 'Well, it's on Zillow.'" When Donna checked Zillow to make sure that those visiting her home were telling the truth, she could hardly believe what she saw.

"And they took the real estate listing, which shows all the rooms, you know, they showed the house entirely. They had all the pictures. The same thing that attracted me to the house," she explained to ABC7. The scammers were so convincing when deceiving the hopeful renters that some people payed them thousands of dollars up front before even going to see the property.
