Amazon is preparing a new miniseries and album based on the 2019 book, Daisy Jones & the Six, which was inspired by Fleetwood Mac's dramatic run of intra-band breakups, makeups and hits in the '70s.
The series is described as "the whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer, revealing the mystery behind their infamous breakup."
And while it doesn't sound like the surviving members of Fleetwood Mac had any input in the final product, Amazon enlisted an all-star cast of songwriters to craft music for the show's companion album, Aurora, including Jackson Brown, Phoebe Bridgers and Marcus Mumford.
The five-part miniseries premieres on Amazon Prime Video March 3.
Daisy Jones & the Six author Taylor Jenkins Reid first became fascinated with Fleetwood Mac at age 13, when she stumbled upon an airing of the band's 1997 reunion concert, The Dance.
Reid said she was instantly captivated by Stevie Nicks' performance of "Landslide" with Lindsey Buckingham, even though at the time she was unaware of the pair's history as a couple.
Years later, Reid decided to write a book about rock 'n' roll, and her mind kept returning to the performance of "Landslide" she'd seen all those years earlier.
"I wanted to write a story about that, about how the lines between real life and performance can get blurred, about how singing about old wounds might keep them fresh."
