Alec Baldwin is being sued by the family of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer who was fatally shot on the set of the movie Rust on October 21, 2021. Attorney Gloria Allred is representing Hutchins' parents and her sister, Svetlana, in the lawsuit.

"To lose my sister was a horrible experience and one of the biggest losses of my life. Even more devastating is to see the utter suffering of our parents and how their health has sharply declined," Svetlana said in a pre-recorded interview. "It is for this reason that I'd like those who are at fault for somebody to carry that responsibility, not just someone, but that very someone who is truly responsible."

Baldwin was rehearsing a scene inside a church in which he had to draw a revolver from his jacket. As he was practicing the draw, the gun discharged a bullet which struck Hutchins and director Joel Souza, who survived.

Baldwin, along with the film's armorer Hannah Guiterrez-Reed, were each charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with Hutchins' death. Assistant director David Halls, who reportedly told Baldwin the gun was not loaded with real ammunition, pleaded no contest to negligent use of a deadly weapon.

Baldwin has maintained his innocence and continues to claim that he did not pull the trigger. Baldwin and Guiterrez-Reed are due in court on February 24.

Baldwin and the producers of the film previously settled a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Halyna's widower Matthew.
