LeAnn Rimes reflected on an emotional performance over the weekend at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The powerhouse artist took the iconic Mother Church stage on Saturday evening (April 8), months after the original concert date. Rimes had to push back the originally-scheduled December show amid doctor-ordered vocal rest.

Rimes shared a few photos from the Ryman performance on her social media channels on Monday morning (April 10), including one where she wiped a tear from her eye during an emotional moment on stage. Rimes said she was “feeling ALL of the emotions” at the legendary Music City venue that night, performing career-spanning hits and a few breathtaking covers (including “Crazy” by Patsy Cline and snippets of Tracy Chapman's “Fast Car”).

She shared that “something has shifted in me, a deeper purpose, an even more expansive heart, a greater level of authenticity… it’s palpable and i see it in the eyes of others, the way we connect… my voice is still healing after a vocal chord bleed back in december and i’ve felt very raw and vulnerable on stage. i’m not yet 100%, vocally, but somehow, the struggle has granted me a great gift, the gift of experiencing connection, not only through my voice, but through my essence, my heart and my vulnerability.

“thank you to everyone who has graced me with their presence at a recent show,” she wrote. “your love has been felt and received and i am grateful for our time together. 🤍”

In December, Rimes explained in a note to her fans that she was sick with the flu when “my doctor discovered a bleed on my vocal chord, caused by the violent cough that came along with being sick.” Per her doctors orders, the award-winning artist was unable to speak or sing. Rimes shared “exciting news” in January, announcing that she was “officially on the mend” and able to perform again.

Rimes’ latest tour dates follow the release of her latest album, god’s work, which made its debut in September 2022. It includes “spaceship,” “the only,” “awakening,” “god’s work” and other powerful songs throughout the track list. Rimes spoke with iHeartRadio at the time about the “roller coaster ride of an album,” that will “break your heart and heal it all within the same breath.”
