Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter will take the stage in her honor at the country legend’s first birthday celebration since her death in October 2022. Tayla Lynn and her duo partner, Tre Twitty, will headline Loretta Lynn’s Birthday Bash on Saturday (April 15). Twitty and Lynn — a nod to their iconic grandparents, Lynn and the late Conway Twitty, often known for their unforgettable music together — will perform at the fifth annual celebration, hosted at Troubadour Nashville.
“Obviously, I questioned it, whether we should still do this birthday bash since she's not here to celebrate,” Tayla said in a recent interview with PEOPLE. “And it only took me a split-second to say yes. …I'll do the best I can to bring her spirit there.”
Emmy Russell, another of Lynn’s grandchildren, will make her Grand Ole Opry debut performance on Saturday evening (April 15) in honor of what would have been Lynn’s 91st birthday. Russell’s sister, Crystal Gayle, is also set to take the stage. Lynn’s family tweeted a link from her account to watch the performance.

Lynn’s family confirmed in a statement that the trailblazing artist and their “precious mom…passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home at her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills, (Tennessee).” The Butcher Holler, Kentucky-born singer was born on April 14, 1932. She went on to release classic songs throughout her decades-long career, including “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “The Pill,” “Don’t Come Home A- Drinkin’,” “You Ain’t Woman Enough,” “Fist City,” “You’re Lookin’ at Country,” “Still Woman Enough” and many others.
Tayla, who previously paid tribute to her grandmother (“Memaw”) with her album Tayla Lynn Sings Loretta Lynn, said on October 4 that “as sad as we are- we are so thankful she is home with her Father in Heaven. Her Mommy & Daddy. Her children past. Her husband. So many that have gone before her. Forever changed.”
