Reba McEntire shared her favorite thing about giving advice as she serves as Mega Mentor on The Voice this season. The beloved country legend said it’s “always a lot of fun to give advice because I study people when they perform, and I wanna be touched when they’re singing to me.”
“You really touched my heart,” McEntire said in a clip from The Voice as she spoke to Team Blake artist Kylee Dayne, putting her advice into action as Blake Shelton is seen smiling and nodding along. “That’s the biggest thing, is to capture somebody int he audience to where they’re sobbing or laughing, (and) get some emotion out of them, and you did it for me.”
Shelton returned as a coach for the final time on season 23 of The Voice, alongside Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan. He announced in October that he’d “been wrestling” with the decision for a while, but ultimately opted to end his run on the show.
McEntire joined Shelton’s final season, marking a full-circle moment from the “No Body” singer’s first and last season. McEntire, who announced on Monday (April 17) that she’s set to release a book and companion album later this year, served as a Battle Advisor during the first season of the show in 2011, for Team Blake. Shelton told McEntire, “you brought me into this, and now you’re taking me out!”
