Jason Aldean dropped another anthem from his forthcoming era of music, aiming to capture the way many people “feel about the world right now,” the country music heavyweight said as he released “Try That In A Small Town” on Friday (May 19).
Aldean, the reigning ACM Artist of the Decade, followed “Tough Crowd” with his latest track, penned by Kurt Allison, Tully Kennedy, Kelley Lovelace, and Neil Thrasher, and produced by Michael Knox. “Tough Crowd” released earlier this month, serving as a tribute to Aldean’s massive fan base. He delivered the premiere performance at the 58th ACM Awards on May 11.
“To me, this song summarizes the way a lot people feel about the world right now,” Aldean said on Instagram as he introduced his new single. “It seems like there are bad things happening on a daily basis, and that feels unfamiliar to a lot of us. This song sheds some light on that.”
Aldean confirmed earlier this year that work on studio album No. 11 is underway. His highly-anticipated project follows the award-winning country star’s massive, 30-track double album that served as a nod to his hometown. Aldean’s first installment, MACON, released in November 2021 , and GEORGIA followed in April 2022. Collectively, the project included “Trouble With A Heartbreak,” “That’s What Tequila Does,” “If I Didn’t Love You” with Carrie Underwood, live renditions of Aldean’s career-spanning hits and more.
The “Rock And Roll Cowboy” artist is gearing up for his nationwide “Highway Desperado Tour,” kicking off in mid July and spanning through late October. Mitchell Tenpenny, Corey Kent and Dee Jay Silver are slated to join Aldean on the upcoming tour. Check out the list of tour stops below, and listen to Aldean’s latest single here (warning: language).
