Kenny Chesney got the ultimate surprise during one of the latest stops on his ongoing “I Go Back Tour.”

Old Dominion showed up unannounced at Chesney’s show in Evansville, Indiana, taking their former tour mate completely off guard. The “I Was On A Boat That Day” hitmakers joined Chesney on his headlining “Here And Now Tour” last year, along with Dan + Shay and Carly Pearce. Chesney even inspired the name of Old Dominion’s current tour (“No Bad Vibes”).

“Here we are. We’re pulling up to the Kenny Chesney show in Evansville. He has no idea we’re coming. No one knows we’re coming. No one on his team knows we’re coming. We don’t have tickets or passes. We’re just gonna break in,” Old Dominion’s Matthew Ramsey said with a smile. The band posted a video to their social media channels on Sunday (May 21) to document the epic surprise. The video captures Old Dominion walking into the venue and join the “Beer in Mexico” icon on stage. “We literally broke into the [Kenny Chesney] show last night. That was fun, Evansville.”

“It is impossible to keep a secret from me. I mean impossible,” Chesney told the cheering crowd. “I gotta tell you, I have missed these guys so much. You know, they were on the road with us for so long, and now they got too expensive, too famous… I’m so proud of Old Dominion. I am officially surprised!”

Old Dominion shared another video from the surprise performance on Monday evening, sharing that they teamed up with Chesney to perform his 2014 hit “Save It For A Rainy Day,” and “Take It Easy” by the Eagles. The band said they’re “still not sure how we pulled this one off.”

Chesney shared a few photos from the concert at Evansville’s Ford Center on Saturday night (May 20), including with Old Dominion and his current tour mate, Kelsea Ballerini, among others. He said in his caption on Instagram: “I don’t think I’ve ever been more surprised in my life than I was last night in Evansville, Indiana by [Old Dominion]. I’ve missed them, I love them, and I’m proud of them. What a fun night. From Evansville to the Red Door. You can’t make it up.”
