The band members of Old Dominion have been through a lot together.

“We’ve been through hotel keys, one man bands, boats for the day, meat, candy, happy endings, therapy and tequila,” they reflected in a tweet on Friday (June 23). “We’ve put hooks on our hooks, and all kinds of sing- and clap-alongs, and we love the look on your faces when we play all these songs live, but we’re all adults... We know life is sometimes a little more complicated. We didn’t want to get all heavy and serious, but we figured we could keep doing what we do... maybe go a little further into thinking about life. That's what [‘Some Horses’] represents for us. We hope you love it as much as we do.”

“I race and I run, I keep chasin’ the sun/ When I’m done, you see nothin’ but dust/ I’m restless and rare with the wind in my hair/ Going somewhere that I never was/ You were holdin’ me knowin’ I couldn’t be broken/ And now you’re just holdin’ the reins/ I’ll love you forever, you should have known better/ Some horses can never be tamed”

Old Dominion released “Some Horses” on the band’s new, 8-track EP, Memory Lane, which made its debut on Friday. The band’s lead vocalist, Matthew Ramsey, announced the release date on stage in late May, during a performance at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Colorado. He said at that time that Memory Lane is just a taste of what fans can expect to hear from the band later this year.

“We just thought this would be a beautiful night to share with you that on June 23rd, we are releasing some new music for you guys,” Ramsey said during the Colorado show. “It’s an EP called Memory LaneWe’ve already given you some of it. We got a lot more music coming for you throughout this year, and June 23rd is one of those dates, so thank you for allowing us to continue to put out new music.”

Before kicking off their headlining “No Bad Vibes Tour” earlier this year, Old Dominion released four new songs: “Memory Lane,” “Freedom Like You,” “Ain’t Got A Worry” and “Easier Said With Rum.” The award-winning band — who recently took a stroll down memory lane with iHeartRadio's Emily Curl — also shared “I Should Have Married You,” after previously teasing it on their social media channels.
