The world is full of quaint little neighborhoods that make up cities, states, provinces, territories, countries, and continents. Some areas are hard to distinguish from the rest while others are so undeniably unique that they top the list of the coolest neighborhoods in the world. Be it culture teaming from every sidewalk crack, book store, coffee cup, and shop window, or a plethora of unique colors, designs, and activities; something about this neighborhood makes it stand out.
According to a list compiled by Time Out, the coolest neighborhood in Illinois is Hyde Park located in Chicago. This neighborhood was also named one of the coolest neighborhoods on Earth! Time Out recommended having breakfast at Valois, visiting the Garden of the Phoenix, Yoko Ono’s ‘Sky Landing’ installation, and the Frederick C. Robie House, getting dinner at Virtue and sleeping at SOPHY during your time in Hyde Park
Here's what Time Out had to say about the coolest neighborhoods in Illinois:
"Notable for being the home of the University of Chicago and President Barack Obama, Hyde Park embodies the spirit of a small town while providing all the amenities of a bustling metropolis. You’ll find some of the city’s best restaurants, plenty of culture – from the wondrous Museum of Science and Industry to the Hyde Park Art Center – as well as world-renowned architecture designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Wander down 53rd Street to explore a variety of charming boutiques and outstanding places to eat, or spend an afternoon soaking up the beauty and splendor of Jackson Park. This multicultural neighbourhood truly fosters a sense of togetherness, exemplified by local businesses like Silver Room – a neighbourhood institution bringing the community together through art and culture."
