Alan Jackson Shares Throwback Pic With Brenda Lee On Her 79th Birthday

Alan Jackson shared a throwback photo with legendary artist Brenda Lee with a heartfelt message to celebrate her birthday on Monday (December 11). Lee is 79.

“Hope you have a rockin’ birthday today, [Brenda Lee]! 🎉🎂,” Jackson wrote in his caption on Instagram, referencing Lee’s record-breaking Christmas classic, “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.”

Lee’s holiday hit reached No. 1 last week, 65 years after its original debut. Lee broke records when she reached that milestone, including becoming the oldest woman to reach No. 1, which was previously held by Cher, with “Believe” at age 52, and Mariah Carey, with “All I Want for Christmas Is You” at age 53. Carey, often hailed Queen of Christmas, sent Lee flowers and a congratulatory note former song’s success more than six decades later. Lee recently debuted the first-ever music video for “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree,” which remains No. 1 for its second week.

“A second week at No. 1 – this is so surreal!” Lee exclaimed in a statement, per her record label. “As I celebrate this with my fans and everyone who has supported me over the years, I really wish I could celebrate with Johnny Marks, who wrote the song, and Owen Bradley, who brilliantly produced ‘Rockin’.’ The song has truly stood the test of time and I am so grateful that this has become my signature song. As I always say, Keep on Rockin’!”
