RaeLynn tells the story of rekindling a romance with an old flame in her latest sneak peek she shared on Instagram. The country singer-songwriter revealed a snippet of “Old Flame” shortly after confirming that Album No. 3 is in the works. The teaser garnered more than 220 comments as of publication time on Tuesday (January 16), including from Instagram users sharing their own love stories.

RaeLynn’s unreleased ballad captures the perspective of a girl trying to find love again after a breakup, and never feeling that same spark she felt with her ex. When he calls her “out of the blue” and acknowledges that he messed up and he misses her, it’s a no-brainer to give the relationship another try. many commenters applauded RaeLynn’s relatable lyrics, transcribed on screen throughout the video:

“I’ve been on dates and a couple of trips/ With different guys, but I’ll admit/ I thought about him when I was with them/ So when they had to leave I didn’t miss them/ So when he called out of the blue/ Said ‘I messed up, girl, I miss you’/ I tried to keep it cool but I couldn’t/ I said I’d sleep on it but I knew I wouldn’t/ And all my friends said I was straight out of my mind/ But there’s nothing like/ Getting back with the one that got away/ Ridin’ round with the sunset on his face/ In the same truck where we broke up/ Gonna make up for the time we had to waste/ Same kiss but it taste a little sweeter now/ Same heart that was broken but it’s beating now/ ‘Cause you know this time he’s gonna stay/ There’s nothing like a new feeling with an old flame.”

“Old Flame” comes shortly after RaeLynn posted a sneak peek of another unreleased song, which serves as a heartfelt letter to her younger self. She confirmed at that time that “my 3rd Album is in the works,” following 2021’s BAYTOWN. Listen to “Old Flame” here:
