Get ready, Los Angeles County!

A solar eclipse is happening on Monday (April 8) and there are plenty of spots where you can watch this amazing event. Even though Southern California isn't directly in the path of the total eclipse, you can still get a great view. First things first, remember to protect your eyes. You'll need special glasses to watch the eclipse safely. Many places sell these glasses, but some locations will give them away for free.

According to KTLA, here are some of the best places to watch the solar eclipse in Los Angeles County:

1. **Los Angeles County Libraries**: Branches in Sylmar, Studio City, Vermont Square, Playa Vista, and Edendale are hosting viewing parties and giving away solar eclipse glasses.

2. **Cal State LA**: The university is hosting a viewing party from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the main walkway between the Biological Sciences Building and the Annenberg Science Complex. They'll provide solar eclipse glasses.

3. **California Science Center**: The science center is hosting a viewing party and providing hands-on educational activities, all included with free general admission.

4. **Pierce College**: The community college is hosting a free viewing party on the second floor of its Center of Science building. The event is open to everyone. Free eclipse glasses and solar telescopes will also be available to guests.

5. **Caltech**: If you're closer to the Pasadena area, Caltech is hosting a viewing party. Free eclipse glasses and solar telescopes will be available. Astrophysicists will also be there to help everyone get the most out of this rare experience.

6. **Your living room**: If you prefer to stay home, you can watch live streams of the solar eclipse from the Griffith Observatory, NASA, the Exploratorium website, and more.

Remember, the next total solar eclipse visible from the United States won't happen until August 23, 2044. So, don't miss out on this rare event!
