David Gilmour recently announced a new solo album, Luck and Strange, and plans to play six shows at London's Royal Albert Hall this October to celebrate. The tour dates mark the former Pink Floyd guitarist's first in eight years.

During an interview with Uncut previewing the shows, Gilmour expressed a disinterest in playing ’70s-era Pink Floyd material. “[Other decades] might be better represented,” he explained. “I mean, at least one from the Sixties. The one we’ve done in the past is 1967’s ‘Astronomy.’ That’s always entertaining and fun and gets people off to a happy start. There’s songs from [1987’s] A Momentary Lapse of Reason and [1994’s] The Division Bell albums. I mean, I think ‘High Hopes’ is as good as anything we ever did at any time.”

Though Gilmour didn't give a reason for avoiding playing songs off Pink Floyd's biggest albums Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, it more than likely has to do with his tumultuous relationship with his former bandmate Roger Waters, who was the driving force behind those albums.

Luck and Strange is Gilmour's first album in nine years and is slated for a September 6 release. See his list of tour dates below.
