No matter if a state is landlocked or has thousands of miles of shores along the coast, there are plenty of opportunities to spend a fun day on the water, whether it's access to the ocean or a manmade lake. Tennessee may be landlocked and not have as much access to soak up the sun while on a trip to the beach, but thanks to all the other lakes around the state, you don't have to go too far to spend some quality time on the water with family and friends.

Cheapism compiled a list of the "best lake" in each state, with a focus on finding great places for fishing and other "aquatic adventure," and determined that the best in Tennessee is Norris Lake, a watery haven in East Tennessee with miles of shoreline and plenty of space to allow for exciting activities like fishing, boating and kayaking or simply to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Here's what the site had to say about the best lake in the state:

"A massive reservoir with more than 800 miles of shoreline and known for its clear waters, Norris Lake touches five counties and covers 53 square miles about an hour north of Knoxville. Naturally, water skiing, boating, swimming and fishing are popular activities. Norris Dam State Park has a full-service marina where visitors can launch their own boats or rent houseboats, pontoon boat, and other boats. There are also mountain bike and hiking trails."
