Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Rara Thomas was arrested again Friday (July 26) morning on multiple "family violence" charges, DawgsHQ's Jake Rowe reports.
Thomas, 21, of Eufaula, Alabama, was charged with two counts of batter (misdemeanors) and one count of cruelty to children (felony), all of which carried a "family violence tag," according to Rowe. The senior was booked by the Athens-Clark County Police Department at 3:20 a.m. ET and remains jailed pending a bond hearing.
Thomas was previously arrested for a misdemeanor count of family violence and a felony account of false imprisonment in January 2023, less than a month after enrolling at the University of Georgia. The previous charges were dropped as Thomas entered a pretrial diversion program requiring him to complete anger management and community service.
Thomas is entering his second season at Georgia, having spent his first two collegiate seasons at Mississippi State, where he led the team in receiving during the 2022 season. The Alabama native recorded 23 receptions for 383 yards and a touchdown for Georgia last season, which included three receptions for 30 or more yards and two for 40 or more yards.
Thomas missed the final three games of the 2023 regular season, including Georgia's lone loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game, due to a broken foot. The senior was expected to be a key contributor for the Bulldogs' offense, competing with Dillon Bell and Colbie Young for the starting X receiver role, prior to his latest arrest.
