Jenna Ortega had an on-set scare while preparing to film her upcoming horror-comedy movie courtesy of her co-star.
The Disney Channel alum is set to star in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to the iconic 1988 film Beetlejuice, in which she'll appear alongside some of the film's original cast like Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara and the ghost with the most himself Michael Keaton.
While chatting with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on Wednesday (August 21), the Wednesday actress shared a tale about seeing Keaton, who she called "the coolest," in costume after the host asked if everyone on set gets quiet or if they cry when they see him dressed as his character, per People. Though she didn't say how other actors or the crew reacted to seeing Keaton fully decked out as Beetlejuice, she revealed how she was spooked early on in the movie-making process.
"He came up behind me. I was getting a hair and makeup test, and I got a tap on the shoulder and I turned around and it was a jump scare for sure," she recalled. "He was like, 'Oh hey I'm Michael,' and he had molds peeling off his face."
She added that she was able to play it cool for a while before accidentally introducing herself to him again when he was out of costume.
"I played it cool and then it was cool until I met him for a second time out of hair and makeup because I introduced myself again because I forgot that I had already met him," she said, as Fallon quipped, "Yeah, you didn't meet Michael Keaton, you met Beetlejuice."
Watch Ortega tell the story in the video below. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice hits theaters September 6.
