Maren Morris Is Reportedly Dating Reality TV Star After Divorce

Maren Morris is reportedly dating a reality TV star months after finalizing her divorce from singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd. 

Rumors about the budding romance started last week, when Justin Assada, from the Netflix series Perfect Match, shared a photo on his Instagram story of Morris sitting across from him in a restaurant. He captioned it simply: “Scary movies + Sushi 😫.” An unnamed source told PEOPLE in a story published on Tuesday morning (September 3) that Morris, 34, and Assada, 27, are together; however, neither one of them has publicly commented on the relationship rumors as of iHeartRadio’s publication time.

Morris finalized her divorce from Hurd, 37, earlier this year. She cited “irreconcilable differences” when she filed for divorce in October 2023. They got married in March 2018 and share one child together, son Hayes Andrew Hurd, 4. Since the divorce, Morris came out as bisexual as she celebrated Pride Month in June. The Texas-born singer-songwriter previously told PEOPLE that “push me over,” one of 5 tracks on her recently-released EP, Intermission, helped give her the confidence to come out publicly.

Prior to speculation and reports that Morris is dating Assada, Morris also told the outlet that she’s “enjoying dating for the first time,” noting that “there’s less pressure to make anything spark or happen. …Nothing crazy has happened yet, it's just mostly been like OK, I can still do this, I guess, and meet a stranger and connect through conversation. That's tougher than you'd think. …I am excited. This part of myself is the most confident and just not taking herself too seriously, so it is the perfect moment to be dating. My rules are just you have to be really spectacular to push me over.”
