Dave Grohl played a surprise performance over the weekend at Oakwood Live, a school benefit in Los Angeles. The Foo Fighters frontman was joined by his bandmate Rami Jaffee, as well as drummer Wiley Hodgen and bassist/vocalist John Lousteau, during the five-song set of covers.
They kicked things off with a cover of LCD Soundsystem's "Daft Punk Is Playing at My House." From there, they took on The Knack’s “My Sharona,” Queen and David Bowie’s “Under Pressure” with The Struts frontman Luke Spiller, and Bowie’s “Moonage Daydream” alongside Lisa Loeb.
Grohl's kept himself busy this year. In January, he spent his birthday cooking food for people displaced by the Los Angeles wildfires; in February, he reunited Nirvana with Post Malone for the SNL 50th Anniversary concert; in March, he teamed up with Jack Black for a new song on A Minecraft Movie's soundtrack; and this month he surprised Coachella festival goers by playing “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” and “Everlong” with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, marking his first performance of Foo Fighters songs since the band ended their tour last summer.

Despite his busy 2025, Grohl laid low after the Foos wrapped up their tour over the summer. In September, he revealed that he welcomed a new baby outside his marriage and the band reportedly cancelled their 2025 touring plans.
