That seems to be the question on Swifties' minds as the Metropolitan Museum of Art readies for its 77th annual Met Gala on Monday (May 5), presenting the theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style."

According to Glamour, the "Lavender Haze" songstress attended the Met Gala for nine consecutive years following her first appearance at the illustrious event in 2008, for which she donned a long, gold dress with matching earrings and a shiny clutch purse. Fans believe she met her ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, at the 2016 Met Gala (her last) in an edgy silver minidress with tall wrap heels.

Glamour mentioned that the "Karma" hitmaker might've unveiled their Met Gala meet cute in Reputation era track, "Dress," where she describes crossing paths with someone with a "buzz cut and my hair bleached." As fate (or Swift) wrote it, Alwyn sported a buzz cut for the 2016 Met Gala and Swift a bleach-blonde bob, the same year they started dating. The "Blank Space" singer and The Brutalist actor ended their relationship after six years together in 2023, months before Swift sparked relationship rumors with her current beau, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Glamour cited "scheduling conflicts" as the reason the star has been absent from the Met Gala for the last 8 years. Fans think Swift might make an appearance at this year's gala because she no longer has to schedule around her record-breaking Eras Tour, which ended in December 2024.
